  • Designing a WebGIS System to Support Active Participation of Citizens in Land Use Planning.pdf.jpg

  • Authors: Tran Quoc, Binh (2013)

  • The effectiveness of a land use planning (LUP) system depends largely on its transparency. In this context, the Vietnamese LUP system is often being criticized for the insignificant participation of the local community in developing and implementing land use plans. To cope with this problem, the authors have developed a LUP WebGIS system to provide a government-to-citizen communication channel and enhance active participation of the local community in LUP. Based on an open source platform (PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MapServer, pMapper, and Apache), the LUP WebGIS system allows the citizens to browse LUP and cadastral data, make and view feedbacks and proposals to LUP plans, exchange messages...

  • The Voi Mep massif of the Truong Son range, having the highest peak in the Quang Tri area (1739m), is composed of granite and granodiorite intrusive rocks in Ben Giang-Que Son complex. This massif is fairly isometric with characteristic landforms comprising: remnants of old pediment surfaces, mountain slopes and valleys with steep profiles. The massif area has a regular altitudinal differentiation manifested in the formation of two climatic belts: tropical humid climatic belt, subtropical humid climatic belt; two altitudinal soil belts: red yellow soil belt and red yellow humus soil belt; four altitudinal vegetation cover types: evergreen broadleaf closed forest, mixed broadleaf/needl...

  • On the detection of gross errors in digital terrain model source data.pdf.jpg
  • CSDL Liên hiệp Thư viện (VLC Reference Material)

  • Authors: Tran Quoc, Binh (2007)

  • Nowadays, digital terrain models (DTM) are an important source of spatial data for various applications in many scientific disciplines. Therefore, special attention is given to their main characteristic - accuracy. At it is well known, the source data for DTM creation contributes a large amount of errors, including gross errors, to the final product. At present, the most effective method for detecting gross errors in DTM source data is to make a statistical analysis of surface height variation in the area around an interested location. In this paper, the method has been tested in two DTM projects with various parameters such as interpolation technique, size of neighboring area, thresh...
